sHow It Works

Turning Gloss into Satin

It sounds like magic, but it’s actually just really good engineering. Matte PPF (often called "Stealth" film) is a translucent material. It allows the color of your car to show through, but it diffuses the light reflection.

So, if you have a metallic black car, the film lets the metal flake sparkle through, but it kills the mirror-like reflection. The result is a deep, rich satin finish that highlights the curves and body lines of your vehicle in a way gloss paint simply can’t. The light hits the car differently, showing off the design rather than just reflecting the scenery around you. It transforms a standard factory color into something that looks like a high-end custom finish.

Stand Out Advantages

The Benefits to Matte PPF

Self-Healing Properties

Got a light scratch or swirl mark on your matte finish? With factory paint, you'd be stuck with it or facing a costly repaint of the entire panel. Polishing isn't an option, as it would just make the spot shiny. Matte PPF, however, is self-healing. When exposed to heat from the sun, minor scratches on the film simply disappear, keeping your finish looking flawless without any effort.

Simplified Cleaning Routine

Factory matte paint requires special soaps and forbids you from ever using an automatic car wash. With Matte PPF, you can wash your car like you normally would. No more hunting for special products or worrying about damaging the finish with the wrong soap.

Protection from Stains

If a bird decides your car is a toilet, that acidic dropping can permanently etch your factory matte paint if not cleaned up immediately. Matte PPF adds a protective barrier, giving you plenty of time to clean off messes without the risk of lasting stains.

Preserves Original Finish

Matte PPF acts as a sacrificial layer, taking the abuse so your original paint doesn't have to. When it's time to sell the car or you want a change, the film can be removed, revealing the perfectly preserved factory matte finish underneath.

Defense First

It’s Still Armor for Your Car

While the aesthetic transformation is the fun part, let’s not forget why this product exists. At its core, this is still Paint Protection Film. It is a thick layer of urethane designed to take a beating so your paint doesn't have to.

Driving in Ohio means dodging rocks, salt trucks, and random road debris. Matte PPF absorbs the impact of stones that would normally chip your paint. It acts as a sacrificial layer. Five years from now, when you are ready to sell the car, you can peel the film off. Underneath, your original glossy paint will be pristine, untouched by the elements. You effectively pause the aging process of your car’s exterior the day you have it installed.

A New Look for Any Color

Customization Without Commitment

The beauty of Matte PPF is that it works on literally any color.

  • White cars turn into a frozen, pearlescent white that looks incredibly modern.
  • Grey and Silver cars take on a raw, industrial metal look that highlights the machinery.
  • Black cars become the ultimate stealth vehicles, looking menacing and sleek.
  • Bright colors like blue, red, or yellow become vibrant and flat, looking like a race car livery.

And the best part? It’s reversible. If you decide in a few years that you miss the shiny look, or if you want to sell the car to someone who prefers gloss, we just remove the film. You haven't ruined the value of the car with a cheap paint job; you preserved it.

Easy Your Matte Worry

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I put Matte PPF on just the front of my car?

Technically, yes. But it will look weird. Since the film changes the finish from gloss to satin, if you only do the hood and bumper, the front of your car will be matte and the doors will be shiny. It’s a bold look, but probably not the one you want. We recommend and only offer wrapping the full vehicle for a consistent transformation.

  • Does it change the color of my car?

It doesn’t change the color, but it changes how the color looks. It diffuses the light, so the color might appear slightly lighter or more "flat" than it did before. The metallic flake will still be there, just softer.

  • How long does it last?

Just like our clear films, you can expect 5 to 10 years of life out of the film, depending on how you treat it. If you park it in a garage and wash it regularly, it lasts longer. If you leave it under a sap-dripping tree for three years, well, nothing survives that.

  • Is it harder to clean than regular paint?

No, it’s actually easier. You don’t have to worry about swirl marks from washing as much because the self-healing properties take care of them. Just don’t use automatic car washes with abrasive brushes, and you’ll be fine.

  • What happens if I get a deep scratch?

The film is self-healing for fine scratches and swirls. If you get hit by a shopping cart and the film tears, it won't heal from that. However, the good news is that the film likely saved your paint. We can simply peel off that one panel of film and replace it, which is much cheaper than repainting a door.

  • Can I use a pressure washer on it?

Yes, but use some common sense. Don’t hold the nozzle two inches away from the edge of the film, or you might lift it. Keep a safe distance, and it’s perfectly safe.

  • Will it void my factory warranty?

No. It’s an aftermarket accessory. It has no impact on your engine, transmission, or electronics warranty. In fact, dealers love seeing it on trade-ins because it means the paint underneath is perfect.
